During the summer of 2024, I worked as a Creative Services Intern for the Country Music Association, commonly known as CMA.

Throughout the 12-week internship, I assisted in editing digital content for CMA's social media platforms, assets for CMA Fest 2024 and clips for TV properties. With the help of CMA, I also had the opportunity to creatively develop my video production skills through independently creating two videos during my time at the company, both of which are embedded below.

CMA Fest 2024 Vlog

While working CMA Fest 2024, I had the opportunity to record my experiences working the four-day music festival. Through this vlog, I got to show exclusive areas and opportunities that CMA Fest had to offer to country music fans.

Country Music is for Everyone

I created this video as a final project for my CMA Creative Internship. Using footage from the 2024 and 2023 editions of CMA Fest, I edited and scripted a short video asserting women's contributions to the country music community.

From 2023 to 2025, I was a member of CMA EDU, a professional development program and leadership academy backed by the Country Music Association. After a rigorous application process, I was selected to join a cohort of approximately 50 students, gaining access to industry professionals and network opportunities during the academic year and beyond.

I have worked with Yna, an independent artist based in Chicago, Illinois, for several years. Throughout my time as one of their creative collaborators, I have done photography, copywriting, video production, and press releases for the musician.

Throughout Yna's career as a musician, I have had the opportunity to work with them as a photographer regarding promotional media for multiple music releases and social media posts.

Yna's Segment on Asian Fusion
First aired on March 30, 2022

I had the opportunity to produce, record, and edit a segment aired on Chapman Radio, Chapman University's student-led radio station. Aired during Asian Fusion's March 30, 2022 episode, the segment featured soundbites from my interview with Yna, as well as an acoustic version of their song "camino santa fe" and a cover of "Hawak Kamay" by Yeng Constantino.

Yna Official Press Releases

Yna's Official Artist Biography
Written and used in 2024

For Yna's upcoming debut album, I was asked to write and edit an artist biography to be used in press kits and on social media. Upon completion, this artist biography was used on Yna's official Spotify page, Genius artist page, and on blog posts about the musician.

Yna is a 23-year-old ambient indie artist currently based in Chicago, Illinois. Drawing from their personal experiences and her drive to experiment with layers of synths, guitars, and bells, Yna’s lyricism and ethereal soundscapes are integral parts of her signature, cinematic sound. Media outlets describe Yna’s songs as “emotionally evocative music that makes you feel like the main character in an Oscar-winning tearjerker.”

Driven by capturing their struggles with anxiety, relationships, and identity, Yna shows herself to the world through the words they sing. Yna wants listeners to live her own experiences through her music, also hoping that her songs can bring others comfort from the struggles they may be dealing with.

Yna is a 2023 recipient of Citi and Music Forward Foundation’s LGBTQ+ Emerging Artists Award. Through this award and creating music influenced by her relationship with their identity and culture, Yna hopes that their creative works uplifts the voices of fellow queer, Asian, female creatives within the music industry.

Raised in Southern California, Yna started singing at the age of four and taught herself how to play the guitar and piano at the age of nine. Having been surrounded by music their entire life, Yna would often sing at Filipino family parties and school talent shows. While studying at San Diego State University, Yna released their first single, “garden of roses” in 2019.

After releasing a number of singles, such as “unaligned” and “south loop,” Yna moved to Chicago in 2021 to pursue a career in music. Since moving to Chicago, Yna has made a name for herself in both Illinois and California. In 2023, Yna formed their band, Yna and the Seasons, which played 15 shows throughout the year. Yna and the Seasons have performed at prominent venues in Chicago such as Schubas Tavern, Beat Kitchen and Sleeping Village as well as Chapman University in Orange, California.

Currently, Yna is working on her debut studio album, set for release in the summer of 2024.
